MINT zorgadvies

a fresh view on sustainable healthcare

Practical, evidence-based sustainability consultancy for your hospital or healthcare institution!

MINT zorgadvies (healthcare consultancy) contributes to solving the healthcare paradox. The healthcare industry is responsible for 6% of the CO2-emissions of the Netherlands. This contributes to climate change, which has numerous negative consequences for human health, due to for example heat, drought, and food shortage. Because of these factors, the need for healthcare increases and the paradox is maintained. That's pretty strange, right?

MINT zorgadvies aids hospitals and healthcare institutions with decreasing their CO2-footprint and increasing their awareness about this paradox. By reducing excessive waste from for example medications, food, disposables, and energy, we can decrease the impact of healthcare on the environment.

projects

Contribute to the environment in a positive way, by lowering your CO2-footprint. This can be achieved for example by recycling or reducing your waste. MINT zorgadvies aids with optimising these processes in an effective way.

MINT method

Sustainability is an elaborate subject. MINT zorgadvies has developed and tested a method and calculation tool in a hospital, which can calculate the CO2-footprint of a process. This puts a number on sustainability, on which the evidence-based advice is based. This unique calculation tool is applied within the method, consisting of six steps. Completing this systematic method has proven itself to be very effective when tackling a multidisciplinary subject like sustainability. The method is described in the graphic below.

about MINT

My name is Else de Ridder, and early 2019 I founded MINT zorgadvies with the goal to make healthcare in the Netherlands more sustainable. After a successful graduation at the Delft University of Technology (2018) in collaboration with a hospital, I wanted to pursue my passion for this subject. Sustainability also plays a large role in my personal life. To combine this with healthcare, is something I'm very enthusiastic about.

During my research I found out that hospitals have a strong desire to become more sustainable, but are unsure where to start. For example, a lot of waste is created, which irritates a lot of healthcare professionals. MINT zorgadvies guides healthcare institutions with making such processes more sustainable, form start to finish. This could for example entail recycling the waste in the preparation room of the OR. I form a multidisciplinary team within the hospital, analyse the current situation with the calculation tool I developed, and give my advise for a more sustainable process. I also provide guidance with the implementation of the advice and perform a check after the advice has been implemented, in order to provide a full service. My advice is specific and unique for every customer. That's how, together, we make healthcare more sustainable!
